EDITORIAL BOARD AND COUNCIL
Editorial Board is the principal body directly responsible for determining the journal’s content, deciding on the publication of articles, and overseeing the editorial process. Its members are leading experts in the field of ophthalmology, with extensive experience in research and publishing.
Role in the editorial process: The editorial board is the journal’s governing body. It determines which research papers will be presented to readers, ensures their scientific merit and ethical compliance, shapes the journal’s portfolio, organises the peer-review process, rejects substandard manuscripts, and maintains the journal’s academic standards. It meets regularly and is chaired by the Editor-in-Chief.
Main responsibilities of the Editorial Board:
- Formulation of editorial policy: Defining the journal’s thematic focus, its target audience, the style of publications, and requirements for authors.
- Making decisions on publication: Reviewing manuscripts, assessing their scientific novelty, relevance, methodological soundness and compliance with editorial policy.
- Organising peer review: Ensuring objective and qualified peer review of articles, selecting reviewers, and monitoring adherence to review deadlines.
- Ensuring publication quality: Monitoring compliance with ethical standards for scientific publications, preventing plagiarism, data fabrication and other violations.
- Preparation and publication of journal issues: Coordinating work with authors, reviewers, editors and the publisher to ensure the timely publication of issues.
- Development and implementation of new initiatives: Seeking new forms of collaboration, developing the journal, and enhancing its prestige and influence.
- Resolving conflicts: Handling complaints and claims related to the editorial process.
Editorial Council is an advisory body comprising distinguished academics, experts and practitioners representing various academic schools and disciplines.
Role in the editorial process: The Editorial Council acts as an independent consultant. Its main function is to provide strategic recommendations, advice and expert assessment to ensure the journal maintains a high standard of academic quality and relevance.
Main responsibilities of the Editorial Council
- Providing expert assessment: Advising the editorial board on research policy, the thematic focus and relevance of publications.
- Content quality assessment: Providing recommendations on improving the quality of research articles, identifying new trends and research directions.
