Ukrainian Journal of Ophthalmology (abbr: Ukr. j. ophthalmol.) is an international peer-reviewed journal for ophthalmologists, visual science specialists, and specialists in related fields.
The journal was founded by Academician Vladimir Petrovich Filatov in 1946

The main aim is to promote the advancement of ophthalmology in Ukraine and beyond by creating a peer-reviewed platform for publishing original research (clinical and experimental), case reports, review articles, discussions, historical reviews, inventions, and innovations.
The Ukrainian Journal of Ophthalmology publishes materials on the diagnosis and treatment of eye diseases, vision care, prevention of eye diseases, the history of ophthalmology, eye care delivery, technical equipment, and pharmacology in ophthalmology. The Ukrainian Journal of Ophthalmology also publishes reviews of books on ophthalmology, articles on the activities of scientific societies of ophthalmologists, and reports on congresses and conferences.

FOUNDED IN: 1946
The journal was founded by Academician Volodymyr Filatov in 1946 and published as Oftalmologicheskii Zhurnal (0030-0675) from 1946 to 2025. From 1996 to 2025, it was also known as Journal of Ophthalmology (Ukraine). In 2015-2025, there were online versions of the journal: Офтальмологічний Журнал (2412-8740) and Journal of Ophthalmology (Ukraine) (2413-8746).
Beginning from 2026, the journal will be renamed Ukrainian Journal of Ophthalmology.
FOUNDERS: The founders of the Ukrainian Journal of Ophthalmology are the NGO “Ukrainian Society of Ophthalmologists” and the State Institution “The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.”
PUBLISHER: Ukrainian Journal of Ophthalmology is published by the Ukrainian Society of Ophthalmologists in cooperation with SI“The Filatov Institute of Eye Diseases and Tissue Therapy of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine.”
CIRCULATION: The journal is published 6 times a year.
